Santa Hat knitting Pattern

Santa Hat Knitting Pattern
 

Sizes:Adult (Children ages 10-12)
Gauge:
16 sts=4" in St st with Cotton Chenille
Materials:
Size 6 US (4.25 mm) 16" circular needles
Size 6 US (4.25 mm)double points
One ball Splash (Color White #101) by Crystal Palace Yarns
100% polyester
94 yards/100 grams
Two skeins Cotton Chenille (Color Apple Red #8166) by Crystal Palace Yarns
100% mercerized cotton
98 yards/50 grams
Instructions
With Splash and circular needles, CO 70 (60) sts. Join being careful not to twist. Place marker for beg of round.
Knit with Splash for 9 rounds. (Note: if you want a wider Splash band of eyelash, knit 12-15 rounds.)
Change to Cotton Chenille and knit in St st for 7" for crown of hat.
Begin dec rows as follows (when diameter gets too small for circular needles, change to the double point needles).

Knit 8(7) rounds
*K6, k2tog; rep from *
Knit 8 (7) rounds
*K5, k2tog; rep from *
Knit 8 (7) rounds
*K4, k2tog; rep from *
Knit 4 (3) rounds
*K3, k2tog; rep from *
Knit 4 (3) rounds
*K2, k2tog; rep from *
Knit 4 (3) rounds
*K1, k2tog; rep from *
Knit 2 (2) rounds
K2tog around until 1 st remains and fasten off.
Make a Splash Pom-Pom and attach.
